EMCOT call center clinicians (C3s) work inside Austin’s 911 Call Center to help divert people experiencing a mental health crisis away from automatic police dispatch when there’s no imminent risk of harm Services include, crisis screening and triage, emotional support, safety planning, connection to community resources, crisis de-escalation, and dispatching an EMCOT field response team for real-time crisis assessment when needed.
