60-unit permanent supportive housing community marks a major milestone in advancing stability, health, and wellbeing across Travis County

August 28, 2026 | Austin, Texas — At a time when housing instability continues to impact more Austinites than ever before, Integral Care today celebrated the opening of Seabrook Square II, a 60-unit permanent supportive housing community designed to help people experiencing homelessness achieve long-term stability, improved health, and renewed opportunity.
Located in Austin’s historic Seabrook neighborhood, Seabrook Square II is the third permanent supportive housing community operated by Integral Care and represents a critical investment in addressing one of the region’s most pressing public health challenges. Named in honor of Austin civic leader Dr. JJ Seabrook, the community reflects his enduring commitment to expanding opportunity and improving quality of life for all residents. His legacy of leadership, service, and community investment continues through a development dedicated to helping more Austinites achieve stability, dignity, and wellbeing.
The opening comes as homelessness continues to affect thousands of Central Texans. In 2025, nearly half of people experiencing homelessness in Austin reported becoming unhoused for the first time, underscoring the growing need for solutions that address both housing and healthcare.

Safe housing and a supportive community create the foundation people need to thrive. Our continuum of care approach is embedded in the architecture of the building, from in-house case management offices on the first floor, to a primary and mental health care clinic only one mile away. We are proud to join our community partners in expanding opportunities for our neighbors and strengthening the health of Travis County.”
For nearly 60 years, Integral Care has served people living with mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities, adapting services to meet the evolving needs of the community. Developed in collaboration with the City of Austin, Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC). Capital A Housing, Camden, Forge Craft Architecture + Design, The NHP Foundation, and Raasin in the Sun; Seabrook Square II continues a legacy of civic empowerment by combining affordable housing with comprehensive support services that help residents maintain housing stability and improve their quality of life.
Residents will have access to:
- 24-hour onsite support staff
- Care coordination and case management services
- Food assistance resources
- Community gathering spaces and computer access
- Onsite laundry facilities
- Outdoor green space and a dog walk
- Convenient access to a nearby clinic providing primary care, mental health services, and treatment for substance use disorders
Research consistently shows that permanent supportive housing is among the most effective approaches to reducing chronic homelessness, improving health outcomes, and increasing long-term housing stability. By creating a safe place to live alongside access to supportive services, Seabrook Square II will help residents build stronger connections to healthcare, employment, and community resources.
Residents will begin moving into Seabrook Square II in early September. Upon arrival, they will receive Welcome Home Kits assembled by Integral Care staff and handwritten messages of encouragement from community members.
For those receiving keys in the coming weeks, Seabrook Square II represents more than new housing. It represents a place to heal, rebuild, and belong. For Austin, it represents another step toward a future where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity, connect to care, and thrive.
